Description:  Leishmania is a genus of the family Trypanosomatidae and consists of parasitic protozoa. As a member of the family Trypanosomatidae, this species are obligate parasites that require a host for their survival. Compared to other members of this family, however, they are heteroxenous and thus require two hosts to complete their life cycle.
